Dr Jobes does receive grant funding for clinical research from DoD, NIMH and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He receives book royalties from American Psychological Association PRess and Guilford press and is the co-owner of a training company called CAMS-care, LLC.

This workshop will focus on various innovations in the clinical assessment and treatment of suicidal risk. There will be a particular focus on reliably identifying different suicidal states that can be optimally matched to different evidence-based interventions and treatments. There will also be consideration of relevant mental health policy, ethical considerations, and how one decreased the risk of malpractice liability related to suicide.

After attending this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe innovations in evidence-based clinical assessment of suicidal risk;
  • Describe innovations in evidence-based suicide-specific interventions and treatments;
  • Describe suicide-related systems of care issues as well as ethical and malpractice considerations.

David A. Jobes, Ph.D. ABPP, is a Professor of Psychology, Director of the Suicide Prevention Laboratory, and Associate Director fo Clinical Training at The Catholic University of America. He has published six books and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. jobes is a past President of the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) and he is the recipient of various awards for his scientific work including the 1995 AS "Shneidman Award" (early career contribution to suicidology), the 2012 AAS "Dublin Award" (for career contributions in suicidology), and the 20126 AAS "Linehan Award" (for suicide treatment research)
