Applications Now Open for MPA Leadership Development Academy!

MPA is hosting its second Leadership Development Academy (LDA) beginning in the fall of 2023.  This 10-month program will be held from September 2023 through June 2024 and meets the second Friday of the month from 1:00-4:00 pm.  The program is free of charge and is open to psychologists with less than 10 years of leadership experience who are interested in moving into leadership positions, for example within MPA, in their careers, or in public or civic organizations. We seek a diverse cohort from all corners of our state, from the many sectors that psychologists practice including private practice, hospitals, college counseling, and government agencies. Through diversity, we seek a lively dialogue where leadership fellows can learn from the program and from each other. Future generations of psychology leaders must reflect our profession and the public that we serve.  We encourage applicants from diverse racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, and ability identities.

The Maryland Psychological Association

Founded in 1956, the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA) is the statewide professional membership association for psychologists, psych associates and other mental health professionals. Our mission is to support the advancement of the science and practice of psychology for the health and welfare of the public. MPA is governed by its members through the Board of Directors, which consists of elected officers and committee chairs appointed by MPA Executive Committee. The Board of Directors meets monthly from September – June to set policy for the Association. Members of the Board of Directors can be reached through the Association office. MPA is not a chapter of the American Psychological Association (APA). However, MPA maintains an affiliate relationship with the association.
