Workshop Description

The webinar highlights best practices for delivering quality education to mental health graduate students in an online classroom setting using engaging teaching strategies. The webinar will also discuss strategies and implications for the delivery of online supervision and consultation services. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss concerns about teaching and supervising students using distance-learning and virtual platforms. This is especially important as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and graduate programs continue to train mental health students and supervisors attempt to provide a comprehensive clinical supervision experience.

Learning Objectives
  • Participants will gain insight on how to maintain quality graduate school instruction for mental health professionals and implications for online instruction
  • Participants will learn about educational and engagement strategies aimed at managing communication, flexible scheduling, and promoting student engagement
  • Participants will discuss the unique considerations of delivering supervision and consultation services in a telehealth format

Dr. Robinson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and board Approved Clinical Supervisor, Trauma and Grief Expert, first-generation trauma, and poverty disruptor. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Friends in Transition Counseling Services LLC, a trauma-centered mental health practice located in Bethesda, MD. She is also the CEO of Legacy Wellness Group, a conglomerate of enterprises dedicated to promoting generational wealth, education, and healing. She serves as the current President of the Maryland Counseling Association and is an online faculty member in the Counseling department at the University of Southern California online.

Dr. Wright-Cunningham is a licensed psychotherapist (DC & MD) and approved clinical supervisor. He has more than twenty years of experience working with opportunity youth and families in underserved communities in Boston, New York City, and the Washington, DC metro area. He has served as a mental health clinician, program developer, researcher, clinical supervisor and districtwide charter school administrator. Much of his work has focused on the intersection between the impact of untreated trauma, externalizing behaviors and resilience. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of Friends in Transition Counseling Services LLC.
