 Topic: Ethics for Paralegals

 Join us for an intuitive presentation on how the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct govern Minnesota paralegals' ethical conduct.  Learn the rules and responsibilities regarding non-lawyer assistants, client confidentiality, unauthorized practice of law, diligence and client communication, communications with opposing parties and other Rules of Professional Conduct as they pertain to paralegals.

 Lynda Nelson began work with the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility as a paralegal in 1987.  Ms. Nelson was appointed the Office's paralegal supervisor in 1990 and has served in that role since that time.  Her responsibilities include investigation, drafting charging, dispositional and other documents, assisting with litigation, auditing trust accounts, responding to telephone inquiries concerning the disciplinary process and/or the status of pending complaints, assisting in the administration of the Office's trust account overdraft notification program and supervising the Office's six other paralegals.  Ms. Nelson is a frequent writer and lecturer in the area of paralegal ethics.  She co-taught the legal ethics curriculum to Hamline University paralegal students from 2004 to 2014.
