MPA Leadership Development Academy

The Maryland Psychological Association is offering a unique leadership development opportunity for psychologists at all stages of their career. The Leadership Development Academy will enable emerging leaders to discover their unique leadership styles, develop individualized goals, learn how to build and manage teams and become more effective at operating within larger organizational structures. Our goal is to nurture future professional leaders reflecting the broad diversity of Maryland psychologists. Leadership scholars will get firsthand experience working with MPA committees and the board of directors, learn public advocacy skills, and learn how to promote the profession as well as themselves and their practices.

The call for applications to the academy is now closed. Scholars will be informed of acceptance by December 2021. Training will begin in January 2022 with 10 monthly sessions. Scholars will attend virtual seminars by leading experts in their fields with small group hands-on exercises for practical experience. Each scholar will be paired with a mentor to identify unique leadership styles and work towards leadership goals. The class will work together on an action project to be designed by the group. Throughout the academy, scholars will explore personal leadership values, attain new leadership competencies, and become part of a growing network of psychologist leaders. Scholars can earn continuing education credits.

MPA is also looking for mentors to help our scholars on their leadership journey.  Click here for more information.

MPA would like to thank the Anxiety & Behavioral Health Center in Ijamsville, MD for serving as a sponsor of the MPA Leadership Development Academy. We appreciate your support! If you would like to be an academy sponsor, please contact MPA at [email protected]
