Topic:  Building a Compliance Program based on the US Sentencing Guidelines

 

Presented By:  Kari Wangensteen and Theresa Murphy of Carlson Wagonlit Travel

 

Kari Wangensteen is Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s director of compliance for North America.  CWT is a leading travel management company, with offices throughout the world and revenues exceeding $25 billion.  Kari is responsible for managing all aspects of the compliance and ethics program for her region.  In addition, she is responsible for CWT’s global training program, sanctions and embargoes and conflicts of interest.  Prior to joining CWT, Kari served in senior leadership positions with Best Buy’s and Supervalu’s legal teams.  She was as an adjunct professor of law at William Mitchell College of Law and attorney/advisor for the US Department of Justice in Munich, Germany.  She holds a J.D. and is CCEP-certified.

Theresa Murphy is the global compliance paralegal for Carlson Wagonlit Travel.  She is responsible for managing the due diligence process for visas and passports and meetings and events providers as well as the global partner network.   In addition, Theresa serves as the global project manager on the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and annual Conflicts of Interest.  Prior to joining the global compliance team, Theresa supported CWT’s legal team handling transactional and corporate legal matters.
